About Us

Sounds of the Shore is a vibrant and exciting women's chorus based on Auckland's North Shore.

We are a prospective chapter of Sweet Adelines International (one of the largest singing organisations in the world) and sing an eclectic range of songs in barbershop style; from golden oldies to modern pop favourites. We sing in four part harmony, with Tenors singing the higher notes, Leads the melody, Baritones the counter-melody and Basses the lower notes.

Our rehearsals are fun, engaging and educational. They include an upbeat physical warmup, quality vocal coaching and work on our repertoire in sections, and as a larger group. Although we take our vocal product seriously, our rehearsals are always full of laughter and end with supper and a chat.

Our members are beautifully unique, of different backgrounds, ages and occupations – all connected through friendship, and a love of singing and performing. Many members are new to reading music and learn the songs by ear, from vocal tracks we provide. Our award-winning director, Richard Harker, is very entertaining and professional – you will love singing with us!

Whether you sang years ago and long to perform again, or are first in line for karaoke – there is a place for you in our chorus!
